CALL FOR PAPERS - The 1st Greater Pearl River Delta Conference On Building Operation and Maintenance - Sustainable and Value-for-Money Built Facilities
This is the first ever conference focusing on building operation and maintenance in the Greater Pearl River Delta (GPRD) Region, organized by the Building Services Operation and Maintenance Executives Society (BSOMES) and supported by BEAM Society. The Organizing Committee of the Conference is cordially inviting academics, researchers, professionals and government officials to submit abstracts of papers on the above themes by 30th April 2010.

Announcement of 6th BEAM Pro Training
Five pilot sessions of BEAM Pro Training have been successfully held with almost 400 candidates from about 80 organizations trained since April 2010. The 6th training opportunity to be held on 7 September 2010 (Tuesday) is now open for registration, and two more training sessions (in October and November) will be organised in 2010. Non-members of HKGBC are now eligible for application.

Announcement of 5th BEAM Professionals Training
The fifth training opportunity to be held on 27 July 2010 is now open for members of HKGBC and BEAM Society. The training programme includes BEAM New and Existing Buildings standards (BEAM Plus) together with the credit points associated with six components. We anticipate admitting about 70 candidates for this round of application on a first-come-first served basis. The tentative application deadline is 20 July 2010.

Announcement of 4th BEAM Professionals Training
The first three sessions of BEAM Pro Training were successfully held on 20 April, 12 May and 9 June 2010 with 246 candidates from 59 organizations trained. The forth training opportunity to be held on 6 July 2010 is now open for members of HKGBC and BEAM Society.

Announcement of 3rd BEAM Professionals Training
The first two sessions of BEAM Pro Training was successfully held on 20 April and 12 May 2010 with 157 candidates from 57 organizations trained. The third training opportunity to be held on 9 June 2010 is now open for members of HKGBC and BEAM Society.

Conference 2010 – Powerful Automation Technology, Control and Instrumentation System for Environmental Protection
Conference 2010 will be held on 4 May 2010 at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, organized by CIWEM and LNS and supported by BEAM Society. The conference aims to provide a platform to enhance the participant’s knowledge of the latest trend in automation technology, control and instrumentation systems in different applications. The conference will also explore business case scenario addressing the success and challenges.

BEAM Plus Announcement - BEAM Professionals Training and Examination
The new version of BEAM Plus (2009 version), recognized by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGC), helps owners to make use of one assessment methodology with all good practices in planning, design, construction, management, operation and maintenance of buildings, and is aligned with relevant local and international standards to demonstrate the overall qualities of a building, be it a new or refurbished building, or one that is in use. In order to open the BEAM assessor network, training for BEAM Professionals has been considered which is now opened for application.

The HKIE Civil Division Conference 2010
Organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Civil Division, and supported by BEAM Society. The conference will bring together leading experts from a wide range of disciplines to discuss infrastructure solutions and challenges in particular as related to climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation in the 21st century. The conference will provide a regional platform to explore practical technological solutions in the design, construction and operation of infrastructure. Key areas of the dialogue include technology solutions and new assessment strategies, industry sustained growth and identification of public and professional risk.

Building Energy Codes Workshop
Organized by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers – BS Division and supported by BEAM Society. The workshop will be held on 26 – 27 March, 2010 in Chiang Chen Studio Theatre, PolyU. It is designed for consultants, contractors, O&M personal and other stakeholders who wish to stay on top of the Building Energy Codes compliance issues.

Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) is organizing a Seminar for the Introduction of HKGBC and BEAM Plus Development. We are privileged to have Mr Kenneth Chan, Chairman of HKGBC Membership, Event and Marketing Committee to share with us the HKGBC aspiration and opportunities; Dr Raymond Yau, Chairman of Energy Aspects Panel to walk us through about the BEAM Plus Overview and Development. Last but not least, Mr Kevin Edmunds, Executive Director of HKGBC, also the Founding Member of BEAM society, to share with us the Accreditation of BEAM Professionals, and Other Future Development.

Technical Talk - New Requirements of Building Environmental Assessment Method (BEAM) Version 2009 for New Buildings & Existing Buildings
Organized by BEAM Society, Hong Kong Green Building Council, The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Building Services Division), Building Services Operation and Maintenance Executives Society, and The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (Hong Kong Branch). During the talk, the participants will be briefed of the latest development and trend of green buildings as well as the introduction to new requirements of the BEAM Plus assessment on new buildings and existing buildings.
